Youth Work
We believe that the best youthwork is done in the local community, and we are working towards encouraging every parish and church within the diocese to discover how God is calling them to minister to the young people in their care, be they part of the congregation, live in the parish or attend school in the area. We even help parishes to engage with young people who just hang around in the church yard. This is done in different ways for different groups, and we provide training, give advice, run PCC away days, help engage with schools and provide occasional events that enhance local activity. The work we do is roughly divided into 4 areas, depending on who you are. Click here for volunteers, Employed Workers, PCCs and Incumbents. Our last area is about representing young people and those who work with them, to the diocese, the national church and local authorities. If you have something you want said, get in touch!
The bulk of this work is carried out by the Diocesan Youth Adviser - David Welch, with administrative support provided by Elaine Waddington. In order to keep people informed about what is going on, we send out regular mailings – once a month to employed workers and once a term to volunteers. Please get in touch with Elaine to be added to our mailing list, ensuring that you tell us which you want to receive. Copies of the latest mailings are on the relevant page for volunteers or employed workers.
