Volunteers

If you volunteer your time for a church within the Diocese of Guildford, firstly: thank you! You are one of an army of (literally) hundreds of people who make all the youthwork that happens in Guildford possible! We love helping volunteers by equipping them in their volunteering, by encouraging and giving advice, and of course by helping out where we can. We offer help with basics such as how to plan a session, to dealing with specific issues such as how to liaise with a school to more complex issues of strategy and leadership. All of this is available if you ask! Your first point of call is David, the youth adviser. Contact details at the bottom of this page.  We provide training for new volunteers as well as the annual in-service training event aimed at both newcomers and more experienced volunteers. The best way to keep abreast of what we offer is to subscribe to our mailing list, and we sent regular mailings specifically tailored to volunteers about once per term (though maybe a bit more just before an event or training course!). To be added to our mailing list contact Elaine telling her your name and parish, and for our latest mailing, please click here.

If you want some specific advice about a situation, event or policy, then we are happy to advise over the phone, or we can come and see you at a mutually convenient time. We work flexibly as we understand that many volunteers have other daytime commitments, so we can meet you in the evening or at a weekend (given notice) or of course during the day. Please contact us and we will see what we can do.
