How You Can Help
Parish Links
Get in touch with your local parish link. Most parishes in the diocese have a parish link person - someone who has agreed to be a contact point for the Foundation in their parish. Some parish links organise fundraising or make sure that the parish supports the Foundation in other ways. Occasional meetings are held for parish links, and they receive regular information about the Foundation's work. To find out who your nearest parish link is, contact info@bgf.org.uk
Publicise the Foundation in your parish
Look for an opportunity to publicise the Foundation's work and invite support. Most people in the diocese don't know what the Foundation does, and the best way to get the message across is face to face. You could ask for a slot of time in a PCC meeting, or speak to local housegroups. Or you could prepare an article for the parish magazine. We can supply posters, leaflets, display material and stories.
Organise an event to raise funds for our work
Could you organise an event for us? This could be a sponsored event, such as a walk round the parish boundaries or a coffee morning. Contact us if you need more information or any leaflets or posters.
Propose ways that your parish could support the Foundation
There are many events in parish life where a collection could be taken or a raffle held to support the Foundation. Could you suggest this when opportunities arise? It could be at a Christmas service, or a harvest celebration. Parishes already support the Foundation generously through collections at installations and confirmations, but if your parish has not had either of these recently, why not suggest another way of supporting the Foundation?
Support the Bishop's Lent Call
The Bishop's annual Lent Call has also supported the Foundation since it began, alongside supporting an international charity. Lent is a time for self-sacrifice, and for extra generosity. Could you propose a weekly collection of small change? Or collect pennies from your own family and friends?
Get involved as a volunteer
Through our work, we become aware of many worthwhile projects that need more voluntary help. If you could spare time, we may be able to suggest projects that need your help. Contact us to find out more.
Leave us a legacy in your will
Remember us in your will, and ensure your generosity will have an impact on the lives of others. Contact us for more details.
Give generously
Or simply make a donation to the Bishop of Guildford's Foundation. Your contribution will go towards projects helping those in need and making communities stronger, in Surrey and North East Hampshire. Click here to download a donation form to print out, with gift aid declaration.
